Career Opportunity: Trainee Residential Surveyor
Oxfordshire
Opportunity
We are a well-established, multidisciplinary, growing firm of RICS Building Surveyors with a fantastic, rare opportunity for a trainee residential surveyor in the Oxford area.
This is an ideal role for someone nearing the end of their surveying diploma, a newly qualified AssocRICS surveyor, or an RICS surveyor with limited experience looking to move into residential surveys.
Allcotts will provide a structured training programme, starting September 2025, allowing you to learn from senior chartered building surveyors with a range of expertise, from heritage property through to non-standard construction. The multi-disciplinary nature of the firm means that there are also opportunities to learn from commercial surveyors, general practice surveyors and structural engineers.
The individual would be based in Oxfordshire or surrounding areas, and the patch would be tailored to their location.
The role
Allcott Associates has an excellent reputation in the residential surveying market, specialising in providing thorough, insightful Level 3 and Level 2 surveys to private clients looking to purchase a new home in Banbury, Didcot, Oxford, Bicester, Thame, Abingdon and similar areas.
Our approach focuses on the building and its pathology, tailoring each survey to the property, rather than using tablets and standard paragraphs. Our experienced typing team support our surveyors so that desk time and admin are minimised, allowing our surveyors to do what they do best – surveying!
This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a role where they can prioritise work–life balance and tailor their job to suite them. As an multi-disciplinary company, we can offer growth and development in different disciplines, including residential (of course), commercial, general practice and structural engineering.
Our independence as a firm means that we have the flexibility to shape the job according to what you are looking for. If you want to get involved in growing the business and liaising with clients then we can facilitate that. If having more control over your work and when you do it is your priority, then the role is ideal – our surveyors often schedule surveys to allow them to do school drop-offs/avoid rush-hour etc. Aside from the site visits the role is home-working, with no timesheets or points targets.
The person
The ideal candidate will be coming to the end of their surveying dimploma, a newly qualified AssocRICS surveyor, or an RICS surveyor transitioning from a different discipline. They must be keen to develop their skills in Level 3 surveys to a high standard. They must have an eye for detail and a thorough understanding of building pathology.
A full UK driving licence is required.
