Works: Our client was carrying out substantial extensions to their home, including demolition of a garage, removal of several internal walls and construction of double height and single story extensions.
Property: Four-bed 1970s detached property.
Instructed by: Homeowner.

Our Oxfordshire Structural Engineers provided structural calculations and drawings for all aspects of the planned extension, including:
- Removal of the full length of the existing rear elevation at ground floor only.
- Removal of the chimney to the rear elevation, full height of the building.
- Single storey extension to the full width of the rear elevation.


- Demolition of the single storey garage projection and porch to the front elevation.
- Construction of new double height hallway with vaulted ceiling and curtain wall glazing.
- New double height to front extension, with store at ground floor and extension to master bedroom at first floor. Vaulted ceiling to bedroom with apex glazing to the front elevation.
- Full height extension to the left hand gable, in the order of 2.5m wide.
- Removal of the full length of the left hand gable wall at ground and first floors.


- Removal of internal wall between the living and dining room (assumed to be load bearing).
- Removal of the internal wall at the front end of the kitchen.
- New internal load bearing walls at ground floor between formal and informal living rooms.

- Conversion of the existing loft space to create a 5th bedroom, walk-in closet and bathroom.
