SAVA Residential Surveying & Valuation Diploma

Classroom complete: what’s next for our budding valuation surveyors?

SAVA valuation surveyorLast month, Allcott Associates’ trainee valuation surveyors successfully completed their classroom studies. Kerry tells us about what’s next for her on the road to becoming a fully-fledged AssocRICS valuation surveyor:

“I started the SAVA Diploma in Residential Surveying & Valuation in September 2018. I have always worked within the property sector and hoped that one day I would get the chance to get into surveying. When presented with the opportunity I was overjoyed to get started.

I have to admit I was very nervous at the beginning of the stage 1 classroom days. Despite this, I quickly started to really enjoy the course, make new friends and increase in confidence. The trainers on the classroom days are very knowledgeable and motivating. What’s more, they’re very willing to help out whenever required.

Twelve months down the line, I can say I have learnt so much already. I’ve realised that there’s a lot to surveying! I recently completed my classroom days and have now started the second stage of the course: the assessment stages. To be completely honest, stage 2 is a lot more work than I thought it would be! I need to complete 10 different types of property assessments, an accompanied inspection and interview, as well as various reflective accounts. On top of that, I need to compile method and risk assessments and energy reports along the way. However, I am committed to completing this and I am tracking my progress closely – I’m 8% of the way through already!

I am not going to say it isn’t challenging, but I am very proud that I have got this far working part time and being a mum of two young children. I can’t wait to qualify and get out on the road as a fully qualified valuation surveyor!”
